Shortened books for busy readers

Soon after Robinson Crusoe was first published, the (rather prolix) novel was condensed into a shorter, simpler version for less literate readers.

Thankfully, things have changed a lot since 1719, and now almost everyone in the UK can read.

But is there now a market for cut-down versions of books for people with less time?
